Here are some simple steps to help you make the most of your workout.

  1. Warm up

With your headphones on and a water bottle in hand, get started with a light warm up to prep your body for a great workout. Every warm up should be different depending on your fitness level and what muscles you plan to target during your workout. Get your heart pumping with a five-minute walk on the treadmill or low-resistance bike ride. At this point in the workout, it should be easy to sing along to your favorite Atlanta-inspired playlist or chat with your workout buddy.

  1. Get moving

Cardio is a critical part of any workout routine, and our equipment makes it easy to get the job done. Plan to spend about a third of your workout time building your heart muscle on the treadmill, stair-stepper, elliptical, or stationary bike. High-intensity interval training can help you get more results in less time.

  1. Build strength

The other two thirds of your workout should be spent building strength through resistance training. Experts recommend strength training all major muscle groups at least twice a week, using weight heavy enough to exhaust your muscles after 12 to 15 reps. Whatever you do, be sure to listen to your body, focus on your form, and give yourself adequate time to recover between sets.

  1. Stretch it out

While it might be tempting to immediately go grab a bite or relax in your lovely Grant Park condo, no workout should be complete without proper stretching. This will help you avoid soreness and injury after the workout. For the best results, focus on the muscles that you worked the hardest during your workout and hold each stretch for 25-30 seconds.
